Caring Collaborative Approach

At Brain + Spine we have a team approach to delivering care because professionals in several different fields will have a role in helping you. Medical research — and our own clinical experience — has shown that most problems related to the brain and spine can be treated without surgery and without a surgeon. We want to make sure treatment options other than surgery have been fully considered before taking that step. We also believe that when surgery is necessary, it should not be needlessly delayed, especially if you are in pain.

We do everything we can to get you to the right physician the first time we meet you. Most people don't need to consider surgery, or may not need to consider it yet. They will see Shelley Freimark, MD, a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. Other people do need to be considered for surgery now, and they will see one of our neurosurgeons – either David W. Lowry, MD, or M. Adam Kremer, MD. We do our best to get you in to see the best physician for your problem, but if during your visit we realize you need to see someone else instead, we'll expedite that appointment for you.

With the collaboration of Physiatry and Neurosurgery at the Brain + Spine Center, the patient receives a true multidisciplinary approach to the care of their spine pain or injuries. This allows the patient to receive all appropriate treatments, whether non-surgical or surgical, without delays or lengthy waits for appointments with different doctor's offices.
