Discectomy

Discectomy is performed when a disc has herniated. This extremely painful symptom once required a large incision and a prolonged hospital stay and recovery. Today, a minimally invasive procedure called microlumbar discectomy (MLD) can be performed to remove a portion of herniated or protruding portion of the disc that is compressing the nerve root and causing the pain. This microscopic surgical approach relives pain and allows a rapid recovery.
